SnailArmor Toyota Land Cruiser FJ80 Flat Tailgate Panel

When we started our Toyota Land Cruiser FJ80 SEMA build and were looking at businesses to partner with, a big goal of ours was to seek out other small businesses that we could support, every chance we got.

Joe had come across SnailArmor on Instagram and instantly checked out the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ80 Ultimate Flat Tailgate Panel. Learning that it was actually made out of aluminum, instead of a piece of plastic resembling a cheap cutting board you’d find at HomeGoods, and that the panels are made locally in the U.S. (NorCal), he reached out to Jimmy at SnailArmor about partnering with us for the SEMA build. Jimmy was so easy to talk with and he was on-board to work with us. He mentioned that he had an idea for a custom etching design that he wanted to do, and since we dig originality, we were of course down with whatever he had in mind.

Not long after (seriously, a very quick turn-around), our custom Toyota Land Cruiser FJ80 Flat Tailgate Panel arrived. His etched design was an exploded diagram of the Land Cruiser’s front axle with the OE Toyota part numbers to boot!

The tailgate panel's fitment is spot-on. There’s literally nothing to say about the install other than it was ridiculously easy, and we’ve been enjoying the new flat tailgate every time we’re out exploring. It makes cooking on the tailgate easier, sitting on it not uncomfortable, and doubles as a nice flat workbench when needed. And if it's easy to install, it's easy to remove when you need to access the tailgate panel beneath, as shown below:

Added perk: It’s also easy to clean up the panel after your dog muddies it up. Or kids. Or my own self.
